The French Professional Football League has officially announced that the 2026 French Super Cup between Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) and Marseille will take place in Kuwait on January 8, at the Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.
According to French newspaper L’Équipe, Kuwait’s proposal was chosen over rival bids from Oman and Ivory Coast.
The match was supposed to take place before the beginning of the season, however, it was postponed due to PSG’s participation in both the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States and the UEFA Super Cup against Tottenham Hotspur.
In the same context, PSG have suffered a major setback ahead of their Champions League campaign.
Brazilian captain Marquinhos has been ruled out for several weeks after sustaining a quadriceps injury in his left thigh.
This comes just days before the French champions face Barcelona in a blockbuster Champions League group stage match.
The game is set for Wednesday, October 1 at the Olympic Lluis Companys Stadium in Barcelona.
