The Arab Charter on Human Rights Committee opened its 66th session Wednesday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo to review Kuwait’s second periodic report, submitted as part of its obligations under the Arab Charter on Human Rights.
The two-day meeting, held December 3–4 as part of the committee’s 28th session, examines Kuwait’s progress in implementing rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Charter, including equality and non-discrimination, civil and political rights, protection from trafficking, access to justice, freedom of expression, and the rights to health, education, and family protection.
Kuwait submitted its report to the Arab League secretary-general in March 2025, outlining measures taken since its first review and its responses to earlier recommendations.
The session includes an interactive dialogue between committee members and Kuwait’s delegation, comprising representatives from multiple government agencies. Observers from permanent missions, the Arab Parliament, GCC bodies, national human rights institutions, and civil society groups are also attending.
