On Tuesday, the Kuwait Football Association announced appointing Argentine coach Juan Antonio Pizzi to head the first national team for one season.
Pizzi will lead Kuwait in the third round of Asian 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The Acting Director of the Kuwaiti football governing body Haif Al-Mutairi, confirmed in an official statement that the Board of Directors and the Technical Committee settled on the 56-year-old coach after a comprehensive study of a number of coaches.
The decision was based on the Argentine’s experience, as he previously led the Saudi national team in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, and the Bahrain national team, in addition to winning the Copa America 2016 title with the Chilean national team.
The appointment of the Argentinian coach came a day after the resignation of the Federation President Abdullah Al-Shaheen.
