Saudi Foreign Minister, Faisal bin Farhan stressed that the kingdom should be "partner in any possible negotiations between the incoming US administration and Iran" regarding a new nuclear agreement.

During an interview with CNBC, bin Farhan explained that Saudi Arabia is seeking to enter into a partnership with the American administration on a possible new agreement with Iran, to limit Iran's nuclear activities, and to counter its "malicious" activities in the region.

Bin Farhan pointed out that such an agreement could be called “JCPOA ++”, as the “JCPOA” agreement is the joint comprehensive action plan that was signed in 2015 between Iran, the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Russia, and France, about Iran's nuclear power and methods of organizing it, which the US President terminated in 2018.

The foreign minister also pointed out that the “JCPOA ++” agreement could deal with “Iran's arming of militias,” whether they are “the Houthis in Yemen,” or “certain groups in Iraq, Syria, Lebanon and beyond.”

He said, "Of course its ballistic missile programs, and other weapons programs that it continues to use to spread chaos in the region," referring to what the "JCPOA ++" agreement could address if it were to be implemented.
