Kremlin said on Tuesday that Sweden's expected accession to NATO would have clear negative repercussions on Russia's security, and Moscow would respond with measures similar to those it took after Finland joined the Western military alliance.
Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson said on Tuesday that his country will seek to strengthen economic relations between Turkey and Europe, a day after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed to refer Sweden's request to join NATO to parliament for ratification.
"We are now encouraging the strengthening of economic ties, the modernization of the customs union and the provision of better visa regimes. There is a fertile ground for closer cooperation," Christerson told reporters during the NATO summit in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.
