Kremlin Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the only way to normalize the Russian-US relations lies in the United States’ abandonment of hegemony and understanding that Russia will not be dependent on anyone.

“The only way is to give up the policy of hegemony in world affairs, and understand that Russia does not want to and will not be subordinate to anyone –in any sense of the world,” Peskov said during an interview with “RIA Novosti” news agency.

The Kremlin spokesperson noted that when the US realizes it is possible to hold conversations with Russia only based on mutual benefit and respect, the time will come to plan the next contacts.

Last year today, a summit was held between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden in Geneva, but currently, there is no discussion about this between the two countries, according to the Kremlin.

The United States had called on Chinese President Xi Jinping, after a call with Putin, not to take the wrong side of history.

On June 15, US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin confirmed his country’s commitment to ensuring Ukraine’s defense capabilities against Russia, by supplying it with long-term artillery, armor, and various weapons.

The US Secretary said in a press conference in Brussels during his participation in the meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, that the Russian military operation poses a threat to Ukraine and to European security as a whole.

Lloyd added that Western countries should strengthen their joint commitments toward Ukraine to ensure its ability to defend its land against Russia.

He pointed out that the US provided many missiles, artifacts, and ammunition, in addition to military equipment, drones, and tactical mechanisms, as well as training Ukrainian forces on new defensive capabilities.
