Russian Presidential Spokesman Dmitry Peskov announced that preparations are being made for Russian President Vladimir Putin to participate in an event related to pouring concrete for the fourth reactor at the Dabaa nuclear station, which Russia is building in Egypt, according to Asharq Al-Awsat Newspaper.

Peskov said, in answer to a journalist’s question, Friday: “Yes, preparations are already being made for that, and this ceremony is very important,” according to the Russian “RT Arabia” channel.

The Russian presidential spokesman continued: “Our cooperation with Egyptian partners continues in a variety of fields, and it is a very important partner, including in the field of this advanced technology, which is very important for further development in Egypt.”

Peskov also stressed that Russia is an undisputed leading country in the nuclear industry at the global level, and said: “We provide better, cheaper and higher-quality services, and here it will be very difficult for other participants in this market to compete with us.”

Rosatom, the leading Russian nuclear and atomic energy company active in building and servicing nuclear reactors in 60 countries, announced the opening of a branch in Cairo. This opening represents an important stage in unifying the infrastructure of the offices and companies affiliated with the company.

Murad Aslanov, the Director of Rosatom's country office in Egypt: “Rosatom has launched an initiative and industry-wide project to consolidate the office infrastructure of its foreign presence. In Egypt, the merger of the office structures of a number of Rosatom subsidiaries, which were previously located in different places with separate offices, took place."

On November 19, 2015, Egypt and Russia signed a cooperation agreement to establish an atomic energy station at an investment cost of $25 billion, which Russia provided a soft government loan to Cairo.

In December 2017, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the final agreements to build the Dabaa station during the Russian president’s visit to Cairo.

The Dabaa station will include four “+3” generation reactors operating with pressurized water, with a total capacity of 4,800 megawatts, 1,200 megawatts each, and the first reactor is scheduled to be launched in 2028. Rosatom is building the Dabaa station with the best technologies and the highest global safety and security standards, according to the international agency for atomic energy.
