Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and his US counterpart, Anthony Blinken, are expected to discuss preparations for contacts between the leaders of the two countries on the sidelines of the upcoming meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council, according to Russian Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
"Senior diplomats will certainly touch on preparations for contacts between the two presidents," Peskov noted, according to the Russian TASS news agency, adding that this would happen if the senior diplomats held a meeting.
Earlier, the Russian presidential spokesman repeatedly said that work is underway to organize such a meeting, and according to him, it is likely that the meeting will be held via video. The Kremlin also believes contacts may take place before the end of this year, although no date has yet been set.
