Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated, on Monday, that the Ukraine-style holding of peace talks did not bring the country any good.

Speaking at a press briefing in Moscow, Peskov called "a Ukraine-style" the statement by the head of Ukraine's delegation at the peace talk with Russia, Davyd Arakhamia, who said Kyiv might return to the negotiating table in late August.

"A more than eloquent demonstration of negotiations in Ukraine-style. Actually, we have known this style for a long time. This style did not bring anything good to Ukraine," Peskov noted.

Asked about inviting former German Chancellor Angela Merkel as a mediator between Russia and Ukraine, he replied that the politician resigned and declared her unwillingness to continue any political activities.

The Kremlin has previously warned the European leaders against “pumping weapons” into Ukraine, stressing that it could prolong the conflict and exacerbate the suffering of the people.

“We know the readiness of our country [Russia], which was announced by President [Putin] to facilitate the passage of the export, as well as to ensure the settlement of this ongoing global food crisis,” he said, adding that Russia is yet to understand Ukraine’s stance.

In addition, Peskov pointed out that he acknowledged Turkey’s efforts to secure a safe corridor for the release of the stranded grain shipments, but added, “We still don’t know for sure whether Ukraine wants this.”

He iterated that he hopes this topic “was touched upon” by the European leaders who visited Kyiv today.

The Kremlin spokesperson reiterated opposition to the West supplying Ukraine’s military with more weaponry, saying, “I would also like to hope that the leaders of these three states, also the President of Romania will not concentrate only on supporting Ukraine by further pumping weapons into it.”
