The death of Brazilian football legend Pele, on Thursday, motivated people around the world to share memories and the legacy of the late icon.

One of the latest trending photos is a 50-year-old photo of Pele with the Egyptian football legend Saleh Selim and legendary Egyptian commentator Mohamed Latif during a friendly game between the Brazilian Santos and the Egyptian Al-Ahly at International Cairo Stadium.

Pele participated in the game and scored two goals, however, Selim didn't take part in it as he retired from football before the match.

Brazilian king of soccer Pelé passed away on Thursday at 82 after a battle with cancer, kidney, and heart problems, his agent Joe Fraga confirmed the tragic news.

The legendary footballer had undergone treatment for colon cancer since 2021. Last month, he was hospitalized with multiple ailments.

Pelé’s health deteriorated as he was diagnosed with anasarca (general swelling), edemigemic syndrome (general edema), and a “decompensated heart failure.”

His daughter Kely Nascimento stated that he was hospitalized in Sao Paulo to regulate the medication in his fight against a colon tumour.

She affirmed that there was “no emergency” concerning her 82-year-old father’s health.

Nascimento, who lives in the US, commented in an Instagram post after what she called “lots of alarm in the media today concerning my dad’s health.”

“Really and truly, we appreciate the concern and love,” Nascimento said.
