Today, Thursday, King Abdullah II of Jordan discussed the most prominent developments in the region with a delegation from the US congress headed by a member of the Foreign Affairs Committee, Representative Darrell Issa.
According to the Jordanian News Agency, the King of Jordan, in the presence of His Highness Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, warned of the danger of escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
He stressed the need to intensify international efforts to achieve a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution, pointing out to the pivotal role of the United States in advancing those efforts.
He reiterated Jordan's rejection of any attempts to displace Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank, and the necessity of sustaining the ceasefire in Gaza and strengthening the humanitarian response.
The meeting also focused on the strategic partnership between Jordan and the United States, and ways to strengthen it.
