On Thursday, American singer-songwriter Kelly Clarkson opened up about recording new music as a form of expression amid her divorce from her husband Brandon Blackstock, after nearly seven years of marriage.
They have been battling over financial agreements and custody over their two children River Rose and Remington Alexander, after Clarkson filed for divorce on June 6, 2020, citing irreconcilable differences.
In a statement to ET, Clarkson revealed that she has been writing new music amid her divorce.
‘I have this record that we are working on. It is really great and really honest. There is just a lot of questions that I have to answer before releasing it for myself. Whether that be business-wise or personally or whatever. Whatever happens though, it is such a gift. Like, I don’t know how anybody, I will just be real with you, goes through grief like divorce, any kind of grief, any kind of loss, without having an outlet like this,’ she told the publication.
Clarkson added: ‘I have written like 60 songs, it is an insane amount of getting it out. I think that is a blessing in itself. Anytime you go through some life, it is such an awesome thing to have that outlet.’
The songstress also detailed that she often ponders about the extent of her private life she is willing to share.
