Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce offered no definitive answers about his future following the conclusion of the 2025 NFL season, leaving open the possibility that retirement could be on the horizon.

Kelce’s plans for 2026 have been widely discussed since he confirmed he would return for the 2025 campaign, but the veteran star avoided firm statements throughout the season.

That approach remained unchanged after the Chiefs wrapped up their year with a loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 18.

Speaking after the game, Kelce emphasized his attachment to the organization and outlined his immediate next steps, which include post-season meetings and time with his family before making any decisions.

“I’ll spend some time with them, go through exit meetings tomorrow and get close to the family and figure things out,” Kelce said, according to Jesse Newell of The Athletic. He also acknowledged that he does not yet know how quickly clarity will come.

“I mean, who knows? Who knows? Either it hits me quick, or I’ve got to take some time,” Kelce added. “I think last year was a little bit easier. I think I knew right away I wanted to give this one a shot. So we’ll see.”

Kelce is currently not under contract for the 2026 season, meaning any return would require new negotiations with the Chiefs.

However, a decision on whether he intends to continue playing is expected to come before any contractual discussions take place.

For now, the future of one of the most accomplished tight ends in NFL history remains undecided as Kansas City enters the offseason.
