Kazakhstan: 2 Killed, 3 Injured in Oilfield Blast

On Wednesday, an explosion occurred in “Tangiz”, the largest oil field in Kazakhstan, killing two workers and injuring three others, according to police.

The police in the western province of Atyrau said in a statement that the Tangiz field witnessed an explosion in one of the pipelines, which resulted in the death of two worker.

Both victims were born in 1985, while the necessary medical assistance is being provided to three other workers, who had got various injuries.

The statement added that an investigation was opened to find out the circumstances of the incident has been launched as per Part 3, Article 156 «Violation of Labour Protection Rules» of the Criminal Code of Kazakhstan.

The accident took place at around 09:55 am in the Zhylyoi district of the Atyrau region, at the Tengiz deposit. As the press service of Tengizchevroil informed, the blast occurred in a pipe during its testing.
