She stated that unavoidable production delay pushed back the album release date from August 14 to August 28.

Perry presented a makeup plan for the two-week delay, where she is booked up almost every Sunday in August for #SmileSundays.

The music video was filmed outdoors, which was directed and produced by director Liza Voloshin, from a safe social distance.

On July 14, Perry debuted a performance video for her cheery new single “Smile”.

“I wrote the title track from the album when I was coming through one of the darkest periods of my life and had lost my smile. This whole album is my journey towards the light – with stories of resilience, hope, and love.” Perry wrote in an Instagram post.

In 2017, she released her previous album “Witness”. She has been releasing singles ever since such as “Harleys in Hawaii,” “Small Talk,” “Never Really Over,” and “365.”
