Real Madrid announced, Sunday, the departure of the club's historical captain Karim Benzema from the club after a historical run.
The Spanish giants said in a statement: "Real Madrid CF and our captain Karim Benzema have agreed to end his brilliant and unforgettable period as a player for our club."
It added: "Real Madrid wants to show its gratitude and all its affection for who is already one of our greatest legends."
During his 21-year run with the club, the current holder of the Ballon d'Or, he won 25 titles, including 5 world club cups, and 5 European cups.
Earlier, it was reported that Benzema may sign a 2-year contract with the Saudi Ittihad.
