Egyptian actor Karim Abdel Aziz's new play "Sinbad" is set to be staged at the 2nd edition of the New Alamein Festival in North Coast, Egypt.
The play marks Abdel Aziz's first theatrical performance in a two-decade absence and the second of his career.
The play's official synopsis reads: "While Omar abo alhoul is escaping from almalem Senussi, he hides in an old cemetery in which he finds a chain that takes him back to the time of Sinbad. Omar assumes his character as if he were Sinbad returning from his last journey in which he disappeared many years ago. Omar lives the life of Sinbad and his adventures and heroism until he discovers the secret of returning to his current time, but this adventure You have changed a lot in Omar. Is it preferable to stay in the age of Sinbad or return Omar abo alhoul?."
The play was first staged on December 18, 2023, within the activities of the 4th edition of the Riyadh Season in Saudi Arabia.
Abdel Aziz made his stage debut in the 2001 play "Hakiem Oyon".
It also starred late comedian legend Alaa Waley El-Din as well as Ahmed Helmy, Hagag Abdel Azim, Monaliza, Mariam Noah, and more. The play was scripted by Ahmad Abdallah and directed by Hani Motawea.
