Japanese might never tolerate disrespecting their culture.. this is said to be true as the controversy spurred by US star Kim Kardashian, releasing shapewear called Kimono, has triggered an official response.

Earlier, Kardashian has spurred an uproar after she launched her new shapeware brand called "Kimono Solutionwear", which is named after centuries-old kimono clothing.

The reality TV star has, since then, faced widespread criticism for the choice of “kimono”, which disrespect Japanese culture and disregard the significance behind the traditional outfit.

Yesterday, West tweeted that she'll launch her brand under a new name following careful thought and consideration.

But even as she announced that, she couldn't stop the uproar she spurred.

On his part, Japan's trade minister says the kimono belongs to Japan — not to Kim Kardashian

Minister Hiroshige Seko said Tuesday that the kimono is part of Japan's cultural pride and is highly recognized globally, even in the U.S., as "a Japanese thing."

He said he'll send senior officials to Washington next week to urge U.S. trademark officials to "appropriately" handle the case.
