However, both states may discuss re-setting the signs of the borderline between them.

The clashes between Sudan and Ethiopia are still on fire as on Tuesday, Ethiopian forces attacked a Sudanese army reconnaissance squad in the border strip between the two countries, resulting in the death of an officer.

“Sudan Tribune” news website quoted well-informed sources as saying that “reconnaissance forces of the 17th Division in the state of Sennar in  the eastern part of Sudan were attacked yesterday, Monday, in the Jabal Halawa area in the border strip between the states of Sennar and Gedaref.”

“Ethiopian armed forces attacked the reconnaissance force during the implementation of its operations, which led to the death of a first lieutenant who was leading the pision.”

According to the sources, units of the Ethiopian forces armed with heavy weapons are on their way to the eastern borders with Gedaref State in eastern Sudan, coming from the Amhara region in Ethiopia.

The sources pointed out that the areas of Al-Fazra, Karima, and Karsh El-Fil, and the areas in the vicinity of the closed Dinder peninsula and adjacent to the borders with Sennar state, witness military movements of Ethiopian forces at a depth of 19 km inside Sudanese territory, and a depth of 13 km in the Jabal Halawa region.
