Juventus suffered a setback in their Serie A campaign after falling to a 1–0 defeat against hosts Cagliari on Saturday night at the Unipol Domus, in a Round 21 clash of the 2025–26 season.
The decisive moment came in the 65th minute, when Luca Mazzitelli found the net for Cagliari, capitalizing on Juventus’ dip in performance after the break to hand the Sardinian side a valuable victory over the Bianconeri.
The first half was largely uneventful, with both teams struggling to create clear-cut chances.
Juventus were denied a potential breakthrough when the referee overturned a penalty decision following a VAR review, leaving the visitors frustrated as the match progressed.
Cagliari grew in confidence in the second half and were rewarded with the winning goal, which they defended resolutely until the final whistle to secure three crucial points.
The defeat leaves Juventus stuck on 39 points in fourth place, widening the gap to league leaders Inter Milan to 10 points.
With AC Milan and Napoli occupying second and third place on 43 points each, Juventus’ hopes of mounting a serious challenge for the Scudetto have taken another blow.
Cagliari, meanwhile, boosted their survival prospects by moving up to 13th place with 22 points, taking full advantage of home support to distance themselves further from the relegation zone.
