Juventus FC are reportedly close to reaching an agreement with Serbian striker Dušan Vlahović over a contract extension, amid growing optimism that the forward will remain with the Italian giants.
According to Italian newspaper La Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus are working on a deal that would extend Vlahovic’s contract by one or two additional seasons, even though his current agreement is set to expire at the end of the ongoing campaign.
The report suggests that the player’s situation at the club has changed significantly in recent weeks.
Earlier in the season, Vlahovic was widely considered one of the leading candidates to leave the Turin-based side, but his importance to the team has grown, prompting the club to prioritize renewing his deal.
Under the proposed agreement, the Serbian striker would accept a reduced salary package, with the new contract expected to be worth around €7 million per year including bonuses.
The 26-year-old forward is also preparing to make his return to action this weekend when Juventus face Udinese Calcio, after being sidelined for nearly four months due to a serious adductor muscle injury.
Vlahovic had previously been linked with several top European clubs, including FC Barcelona and Bayern Munich, as speculation over his future intensified earlier this season.
