Juventus Crash Out of Coppa Italia After Heavy Home Defeat to Atalanta

Juventus were knocked out of the Coppa Italia at the quarter-final stage after suffering a heavy 3–0 home defeat to Atalanta on Thursday evening.

Atalanta produced a dominant display in Turin, with goals from Gianluca Scamacca, Sulemana, and Mario Pašalić sealing a convincing victory and sending Gian Piero Gasperini’s side into the semi-finals.

The result also saw Juventus eliminated from the competition for the second consecutive season.

The defeat represents a significant setback for the Bianconeri, who once again exit the Coppa Italia at the quarter-final stage, having been knocked out last season by Empoli following a 2–1 loss.

With this latest elimination, Juventus have recorded an unwanted statistic not seen in 15 years.

The last time the club was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia in back-to-back seasons was during the 2009–2010 and 2010–2011 campaigns.

The disappointment is heightened by the fact that Juventus lifted the Coppa Italia trophy just two seasons ago, raising expectations among supporters for a deeper run in the competition.

Instead, the latest early exit adds to growing frustration as the club reflects on another missed opportunity for silverware.
