On Friday, Julian Nagelsmann was appointed as the new coach of the men’s national football team.
The German football federation said Nagelsmann has a short-term contract to lead the team during the European Championship last year in Germany.
Nagelsmann said in a statement: “We have a European Championship in our own country. This is something special, something that only happens every few decades,” Nagelsmann said.
He added: “Having a great tournament in a great country is the priority. I’m very keen to take on this challenge ... We will be a close-knit bunch next year.”
Nagelsmann was appointed after the German federation sacked Hansi Flick, on September 10, after Germany's 4-1 loss to Japan in a friendly game.
