On Friday, the Brazilian side Flamengo announced the signing of Italian-Brazilian midfielder Jorginho from English Premier League side Arsenal, ahead of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Jorginho signed a contract that runs until July 2028, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his career that started in Brazil before making a name for himself in European football.

He is set to wear the number 21 jersey with the team and will be ready to participate in the global tournament next summer.

Jorginho was born in Brazil but moved to Italy in 2008 while still a youth player. There, he gained Italian citizenship, later rising to prominence with Napoli, where he spent four successful seasons, winning the Coppa Italia and the Italian Super Cup.

In 2018, he took a major step in his career by moving to the English Premier League, signing with Chelsea.

At Chelsea, he enjoyed his best years, winning the 2019 UEFA Europa League against Arsenal, the 2021 UEFA Super Cup (where he was named Man of the Match in the final), and the FIFA Club World Cup in the same season. Jorginho transferred to Arsenal in January 2023, where he played in several matches until the end of the most recent season.
