Aman has strongly condemned remarks made by Israel’s Communications Minister, who claimed that both banks of the Jordan River are part of what he called the “Land of Israel,” according to Al-Qahera News.
In a statement on Thursday, Jordan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the comments would not affect the Kingdom’s steadfast position in support of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people.
The ministry stressed that such statements reflect the situation of an “isolated Israeli government mired in a deep crisis,” and warned that inflammatory rhetoric poses a serious threat to regional stability.
Jordan called on the international community to hold Israel and its “extremist government” accountable and to press for an end to provocative declarations that undermine peace efforts.
