Boris Johnson's Christmas greeting this year encourages inpiduals across the UK to get their booster shots, calling it a "great" gift to their families.

The British Prime Minister also stated that the epidemic is still dominant, stating that "Omicron is surging," and that he will honour NHS workers' efforts.

"Though the time for buying presents is theoretically running out, there is still a wonderful thing you can give your family and the whole country, and that is to get that jab, whether it is your first or second, or your booster," Johnson writes in his Christmas message, which was released on Friday.

"In order for next year's celebrations to be even better than this year's."

He also referred to a Covid vaccination as "an intangible and priceless gift."

It comes as Covid continues to spread across the country, with more than 119,000 positive tests recorded in the UK on Thursday, the greatest number of daily cases reported since the pandemic began.

Omicron instances are thought to account for 90% of Covid infections in London, and an investigation released on Wednesday revealed that the capital is home to 12 of the country's worst-affected locations, mostly in inner London.

Johnson added: "We have been obtaining that immunisation that protects us and prevents us from infecting others," the Prime Minister added in his speech. “And I hope I can be forgiven for taking pride in the immense spirit of neighbourliness that the people of this country have shown."

“Getting jabbed not just for themselves, for ourselves, but for friends and family and everyone we meet." “And that, after all, is the teaching of Jesus Christ, whose birth is at the heart of this enormous festival, that we should love our neighbours as we love ourselves."

Johnson said: “And so let’s think of all those who are being good neighbours and thinking of others. All those in the NHS working over Christmas, our care workers, everyone involved in the incredible vaccination campaign.”
