A number of Jewish settlers, supported by the Israeli occupation forces, stormed today, Saturday, the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Eyewitnesses said that 25 settlers stormed Al-Aqsa, and carried out provocative tours in its courtyards and performed Talmudi.

Earlier, Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the violations committed by Israeli extremists protected by the Israeli forces against Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Ahmed Hafez, the official spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, affirmed Egypt’s rejection of these violations, stressing that Egypt has always warned against harming Al-Aqsa Mosque.

He also indicated that a mosque is a place of worship for Muslims. Hence, the Israeli authorities are responsible for protecting worshipers in order to maintain security and stability and refraining from everything that contributes to creating any tension or action that leads to escalation.

Last month, Egypt denounced the Israeli government’s plans to build more than 1,300 settlement homes in the West Bank, saying that this will gradually abolish the two-state solution and the future of the Palestinian state.

“Settlements are illegal under international law and constitute a major obstacle to the achievement of the two-state solution and a just, lasting and comprehensive peace between the parties,” a spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
