As fires continue to scorch several cities in the Los Angeles County Area, thousands of houses, businesses and many other buildings have been destroyed. Celebrities have been speaking out about losing their homes and urging people to donate money to fire relief efforts.
Hollywood events, such as the “Wolf Man” and “The Pitt” premieres, were canceled, and production on shows like “Fallout,” “Hacks,” “Grey’s Anatomy,” “Suits: L.A.” and many more were paused.
Nominations for the Oscars, PGA Awards and WGA Awards have been pushed back. The 2025 Critics Choice Awards, originally set for January 12, was moved to January 26, and the BAFTA Tea Party and AFI Luncheon were delayed.
Jamie Lee Curtis donated $1 million to fire relief efforts after her Pacific Palisades neighborhood caught on fire.
“As you know, where I live is on fire right now. The entire city of Pacific Palisades is burning. I flew here last night, I was on the plane, started getting texts and it’s fucking gnarly, you guys. It’s just a catastrophe in Southern California,” she said on “The Tonight Show.” “Everything: the market I shop in, the schools my kids go to. Many, many, many friends now have lost their homes. So it’s a really awful situation.”
Billy Crystal and his wife lost their Pacific Palisades home, where he had lived for 46 years.
“Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy,” he said in a statement. “Janice and I lived in our home since 1979. We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away.”
Milo Ventimiglia, whose wife is nine months pregnant, lost his house to the fires in Malibu.
He revealed during a CBS News interview that he found out about the fire through security footage.
Anthony Hopkins’ home, which he purchased in 2021, burned down as did John Goodman’s Pacific Palisades house and Miles Teller’s house between Palisades Bluffs and Palisades Village that he bought in 2023.
Jeff Bridges’ Malibu home burnt down as did producer Candy Spelling’s house. “I’m in shock and processing this massive loss for our family,” she told TMZ. “I am beyond grateful for the memories. It was truly a wonderful gift to have.”
Paris Hilton’s beachfront Malibu home also burnt down. The reality star took to X to share some words of support for those struggling with the L.A. fires. She wrote, “Praying for LA/California right now.”
Eugene Levy lost his Pacific Palisades home. “The smoke looked pretty black and intense over Temescal Canyon,” he told the L.A. Times. “I couldn’t see any flames but the smoke was very dark.”
Mandy Moore, who had posted Tuesday about evacuating, seemed to indicate that her house had burned down. She wrote on her Instagram story, “This is Altadena. Leveled. My sweet home. I am devastated who those of us who’ve lost so much. I’m absolutely numb.”
“The Princess Bride” actor Cary Elwes posted that he and his wife, Lisa Marie Elwes, lost their home but “are grateful to have survived this truly devastating fire.”
“Our hearts go out to all the families impacted by this tragic event and we also wish to extend our gratitude to all the firefighters, first responders and law enforcement who worked so tirelessly through the night and are still at it.”
Actor James Woods broke down in tears after his Pacific Palisades home was lost to the fire.
“One day you’re swimming in the pool and the next day it’s all gone,” Woods told CNN. “There was so much chaos, it was like an inferno. Every house was on fire around us.”
Adam Brody and Leighton Meester‘s home in the Pacific Palisades burned down as well as Anna Faris’ home. Oscar-nominated songwriter Diane Warren posted on Instagram that her beach house of nearly 30 years was lost to the fire.
“There’s a rainbow shining on it which I’m taking as a sign of hope for all creatures who have been affected by this tragedy,” she wrote. “The animals and the rescue ranch are OK tho which is the most important thing. Stay safe everyone.”
Beyoncé's mother Tina Knowles revealed she lost her Malibu bungalow to the fires.
"It was my favourite place, my sanctuary, my sacred happy place. Now it is gone," she wrote on Instagram.
Knowles went on to thank "all the brave men and women in our fire department who risked their lives in dangerous conditions".
Her message was accompanied by a video of the ocean view from her bungalow, which she took just last weekend on her birthday.
Reality TV stars Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag lost their home, in addition to Pratt’s parents’ house.
“The one positive sign I saw as our house burned down was ours sons bed burned in the shape of a heart,” Pratt wrote on Instagram. “A sign of how much love was in this house so thankful for all the years and memories there with our family.”
“All My Children” and “General Hospital” star Cameron Mathison wrote, “We are safe. But this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their own someday. Thanks to all who reached out and checked in. Can’t respond to all so wanted to give an update here. Sending so many prayers to everyone being affected by these fires.”
