The Embassy of Japan in Cairo held a musical evening at the residence of Ambassador Oka Hiroshi under the title ““Harmony Across Cultures” “A Celebration of Japanese and Egyptian Talents”,” where Egyptian and Japanese talented musical artists played in a wonderful mixture of world-famous opera pieces, traditional Japanese music as well as Egyptian Arabic music.
The musical nights came on the occasion of the visit of the prominent Japanese Artists to Egypt Mr. Tomosugi Masashi, Opera Singer, Bass Baritone Mr. Kurihara Takaki, Opera Singer, Baritone Mr. Suenaga Tadashi, Pianist and with the participation of the Outstanding Egyptian Artists Dr. Reda El Wakil, Opera Singer, Baritone Mr. Amr Medhat, Opera Singer, Tenor Mr. Yasser Elserafi, Violinist, Mr. Sakamoto Haruka, Trumpet player and Mr. Ahmed Hathout, Oud player.
The event included a variety of operatic pieces such as Make Way for the Factotum by Gioacchino Rossini, from The Barber of Seville and Toreador Song by Georges Bizet, from Carmen and A Furtive Tear by Gaetano Donizetti, from The Elixir of Love and classical musical works such as Debussy’s Violin and Piano Sonata and Franz Liszt’s Ballade No. 2, in addition to traditional musical works from Japan and Egypt.
It is noteworthy that same players will also perform at the small hall of Opera house in the night of 25th of October, in a musical evening under the title “Japan and Egypt Together for Deeper Ties and a Brighter Future” and organized by Japan Foundation Cairo, noting that the entrance is free of charge.
The event witnessed the attendance of a diverse audience, including Diplomates university students, professional musicians from the Cairo Opera House and other musical institutions, journalists, influencers, and those interested in Japanese culture and arts.
