On Tuesday, Japanese authorities warned football fans who want to support the national team in the upcoming qualifiers of the FIFA World Cup in Pyongyang, North Korea.
The Tokyo Foreign Ministry "strongly requests the general public to refrain" from attending the match on March 26, the first game between Japan and North Korea since 2011.
It posted on X: "As you know, North Korea takes a hostile view of Japan and travel is not recommended for the general public."
Japan and North Korea will play in Tokyo on Thursday as part of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup, before the return fixture next week.
