Japan has recorded the first case of the new "Omicron XE" mutant of coronavirus (COVID-19), in a woman upon arrival at Narita airport near Tokyo, Health Ministry announced on Tuesday.
A woman in her thirties, who has stayed in the United States (US), arrived at the airport on March 26, yet she did not show any symptoms, the ministry added in a statement.
It is worth mentioning that the “Omicron XE” variant represents 1% of Coronavirus cases nowadays. It is a strain composed of “Omicron “PA1” and “PA2”, and it occurs when an inpidual is infected with more than one variant, which unites among themselves through shared genetic material.
