Japan's Ambassador to Palestine, Araki Katsuhiko, announced a new support package from his country to the Palestinian side, including direct budget support of $10 million as part of the supplementary budget for the 2025 fiscal year. This support reflects Tokyo's ongoing commitment to assisting the Palestinian people.

During his meeting with Palestinian Minister of Finance and Planning, Istifan Salameh, at the ministry headquarters in Ramallah, Ambassador Katsuhiko explained that in addition to the $10 million budget support, $30 million will be allocated to fund development projects and capacity-building programs, within a total support package of $167 million. The remaining funds will be directed towards humanitarian projects in various governorates, with a particular focus on the Gaza Strip.

The Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) quoted the Japanese ambassador as affirming his country's commitment to continuing its support for the Palestinian people amidst the difficult circumstances they are facing, and to contributing to strengthening stability and sustainable development in Palestine.
