Oscar nominees Jake Gyllenhaal and Vanessa Kirby are set to lead the survival thriller movie "Suddenly".

It is written by acclaimed screenwriter Thomas Bidegain, known for scripting movies such as "A Prophet", and "Rust And Bone and Dheepan", which won the Palme d’Or. Bidegain is also scripting the English-language project.

The movie is based on Isabelle Autissier’s French-language novel "Soudain Seuls", which follows a couple who get stranded on an island in the South Atlantic and must fight for survival. The novel shines a light on the dynamics of their relationship and on modern society.

Studiocanal is financing the production, which is also set to launch its world sales this week.

The production company is also teaming up with Tresor Films and Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories on the blue-chip prospect.

Alain Attal, Gyllenhaal, and Riva Marker are producing through their Nine Stories banner. Artemis Productions and True North Productions will co-produce.

Gyllenhaal and Bidegain previously worked together on"The Sisters Brothers". The actor was last seen on the big screen in "Spider-Man: Far From Home".

He is also set to be seen in movies "The Guilty", and "Ambulance".
