Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Inaugurated in Assiut

Minister of Social Solidarity Ghada Wali, Assiut Governor Gamal Nour El-Din, and Ambassador of India  Rahul Kulshresth inaugurated the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp in Assiut.

Honorary Director International Operations of Bhagwan Mahaveer Viklang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS) Satish Mehta, in Jaipur, India, attended the ribbon cutting.

In this regard, Kulshresth recalled that while launching the “India for Humanity” initiative, the Indian Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj said  “foreign policy is also about sharing what we have with others.

"It is about reaching out to people in other countries to see whether we can make a difference to their lives. It is about empowering people’s lives.”

What is the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp?

To commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs launched the programme "India for Humanity".

Under the umbrella of the programme, both the Ministry and the Embassy organized the Jaipur Foot Artificial Limb Fitment Camp.

Worth noting is that this is the first camp to be established in the West Asia region under the programme. It is part of the ever-expanding Indian-Egyptian bilateral cooperation.

Thanks to this humanitarian project, over 525 persons with disabilities in Egypt, it will be equipped with free artificial limbs in the next 6 weeks.

About the BMVSS:

The BMVSS is the technical and implementing partner of the camp. It has sent equipment, materials, and tools, etc.  Its team includes professional technicians Govind Sharma and Shyamveer Singh with experience of serving over 10,000 patients each.

BMVSS was established in 1975 as a not-for-profit organization to serve persons with disability. In this regard, it is the world’s largest organization since its inception. It has served more than 1.80 million persons in India. All its services are offered free of cost.

Besides India, BMVSS has organized 72 camps in over 32 countries in Asia, Africa, and Latin America. It managed to bring mobility to about 30,000.
