Argentina striker Julián Álvarez remains determined to leave Atlético Madrid during the summer transfer window, with Barcelona emerging as his preferred destination despite the Spanish club's efforts to convince him to stay.
According to AS, Álvarez has informed Atlético's hierarchy that a transfer is the best solution for all parties and has no intention of changing his stance, even after weeks of discussions aimed at persuading him to remain under Diego Simeone.
The report adds that Atlético Madrid officials reacted angrily to the player's decision and are considering filing a complaint against Barcelona with FIFA over the transfer pursuit.
However, legal experts reportedly believe such a move would have little chance of success due to the lack of solid legal grounds.
Despite the club's attempts to keep him at the heart of Simeone's long-term project, Álvarez is said to be fully committed to securing a move to Camp Nou, while many Atlético supporters have begun to accept the possibility of his departure.
Barcelona, meanwhile, continue to work on a deal and are reportedly prepared to submit an offer worth around €135 million in an effort to convince Atlético Madrid to sell the Argentine forward, particularly if the player maintains his desire to leave.
Álvarez has also reportedly rejected approaches from Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain, believing Barcelona is the ideal destination for the next stage of his career, a position that has strengthened the Catalan club's confidence in the negotiations.
