On Monday, Ivory Coast rewarded their interim coach Emerse Fae by appointing him to be the first football team's full-time coach.

The President of the Ivorian Football Federation Idriss Diallo said: “Emerse was until now interim coach and has just been confirmed today as full coach."

Last week, thousands of football fans stormed into the streets of Ivory Coast's capital, Abidjan, to see their national team's victory parade after winning the 2023 AFCON.

The hosts defeated Nigeria 2-1 to win the prestigious African title for the third time in their history.

The story of Ivory Coast's victory is inspirational as they were on the forge to be eliminated from the tournament, but after the conclusion of the group stage third round, they qualified as one of the best third-place holders. They also sacked their coach after their defeat in the group stage, before their qualification to the knockouts, naming Fae as their interim coach.

In addition, Sébastien Haller, who battled testicular cancer, scored the victory goal in the 2023 AFCON final.
