A recent analysis by the United Nations satellite imagery agency, UNOSAT, has revealed that nearly two-thirds of the buildings in Gaza have been damaged due to the ongoing Israeli offensive over the past 10 months.
This assessment is based on satellite images captured by UNOSAT.
In its statement, UNOSAT reported that its latest damage evaluation shows 151,265 buildings in Gaza have been affected.
This statistic was derived from satellite images taken on July 6 and compared with those captured in May 2023.
The analysis detailed the extent of the destruction: 30% of the buildings have been destroyed, 12% have suffered severe damage, 36% have moderate damage, and 20% are likely damaged.
This confirms that about 63% of all buildings in Gaza have been affected, with an estimated 114 kilograms of debris per square meter across the region.
Earlier, the United Nations estimated that it would take around 15 years to clear the rubble from Gaza post-conflict, assuming the use of 100 trucks per day.
