On Saturday, The Iraqi Football Association sent an apology to the Kuwaiti delegation after the obstacles the Kuwaiti delegation faced during the opening ceremony of the 25th Arabian Gulf Cup (Khaleeji 25).

During the opening ceremony, the representative of Kuwait and the head of the Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahd Al Nasser, the head of the Kuwaiti association, and members of the association's board of directors left the venue after facing some obstacles to access to the stadium.

In the statement, the Iraqi Football Association sent an apology to the Kuwaiti delegation due to some of the issues related to the organization.

The President of the Iraqi Football Association Adnan Dirjal asserted that the organizing committee will solve all issues related to the organization.

Dirjal underscored the deep and strong relations between Iraq and Kuwait, highlighting that Kuwaiti officials were among the supporters of Iraq hosting the event in Al Basrah.

On Friday, the Kuwaiti delegation was depicted leaving the venue after a number of fights and brawls between the audience.

Reports indicated the chaos took place after some fans stormed into the VIP section of the stadium.

Sources told local Kuwaiti media that security forces inside the venue were unable to control the chaos, forcing the delegation to leave over security concerns.
