The fifth and sixth Iraqi Airways flights took off on Monday from Cairo International Airport with 324 Iraqis on board seeking to return home.

The two flights come as part of Iraq's efforts to bring his stranded citizens back from abroad.

In a press release, Iraq's Ambassador in Cairo and its Permanent Representative to the Arab League Ahmed Nayef Al-Dulaimi hailed the ongoing coordination and cooperation with the Egyptian authorities on launching these flights.

"A seventh exceptional flight will be operated on Tuesday," Dulaimi noted, pointing out that the Iraqi Embassy here receives requests of Iraqis who want to return their home along with the directives of the Egyptian Health Ministry to follow the protective measures against the coronavirus.

The ambassador stressed that the embassy follows the conditions of the Iraqis in Egypt around the clock and helps them in overcoming all obstacles that they face in the current critical circumstances.

Earlier, the Iraqi Embassy operated four exceptional flights over the past period to bring back Iraqis stranded in Egypt.

It is worth mentioning that the number of coronavirus cases in Iraq today reached 1,378, while the death toll climbed to 78.
