The Iraq national football team received a warm and enthusiastic welcoming in Amman after securing qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Iraq booked their place in the tournament, set to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, following a 2-1 victory over Bolivia national football team in the intercontinental play-off.
The team arrived at Queen Alia International Airport on Thursday evening while en route back to Iraq, where they were greeted with a celebratory reception.
Fans gathered in large numbers at the airport, waving flags and chanting in support of the squad, creating a festive atmosphere to honor the players’ achievement.
Both Iraqi and Jordanian supporters were present to welcome the team following their return from Mexico.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will take place from June 11 to July 19, featuring 48 teams for the first time in the competition’s history.
