Iraqi President Abdul Latif Jamal Rashid met today, Sunday, with Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati and his accompanying delegation to discuss developments on the Arab and international scenes and the importance of concerted efforts to stop the ongoing Israeli aggression on Gaza and address the dire humanitarian situation in the sector.
The Iraqi Presidency stated in a communiqué reported by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the discussions also focused on strengthening friendship and cooperation relations in the interests of both peoples.
The Iraqi president emphasized that the world is witnessing rapid changes and events that require a framework of cooperation and mutual understanding among all regional countries to face these challenges.
President Rashid highlighted Iraq's security stability and the progress in its reconstruction efforts, noting that Iraq's fundamental principles drive it to enhance relations with brotherly and friendly countries, and that the past period has seen numerous positive developments in this regard.
For his part, Mikati appreciated the Iraqi president's stance at the recent summit in Bahrain in support of Lebanon, explaining that the ties between the two brotherly countries are stronger than those Lebanon shares with any other nation.
