Iraqi Civil Aviation Authority has announced the extension of the country’s airspace closure for an additional 72 hours, suspending all incoming, outgoing, and transit flights.
According to a statement carried by the Iraqi News Agency, the decision took effect at 12:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026, and will remain in place until 12:00 p.m. on Monday as a temporary precautionary measure.
The authority said the move was based on ongoing assessments of the security situation and regional developments, noting that the decision will be reviewed in line with any new changes on the ground.
Officials added that airlines and relevant authorities will be notified of any updates as the situation evolves, emphasizing that the measure is intended to ensure the safety of air navigation during a period of heightened uncertainty.
