Iranian parliamentarian Mohammad Reza Pour Ebrahimi said Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit Tehran next week.

During a press statement, Pour Ibrahimi added that Moscow is serious about expanding its economic relations with Tehran, and planning for this goal will be on top of Putin's agenda in his talks with Iranian officials.

He pointed out that the Western sanctions imposed on Russia have increased Moscow's interest in strengthening economic and commercial dealings with Iran.

"Very favourable agreements were signed during that trip, President Raeisi marked a new chapter of economic relations between Iran and Russia and assured the Russians that the government of the Islamic Republic is serious about economic cooperation with Russiam" Pour-Ebrahimi added.

Previously, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov did not rule out that Putin would pay a visit to Tehran but did not specify the date.

On his part, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian mentioned last month that Tehran was counting on holding a Russian-Iranian-Turkish tripartite summit on Syria.

Since Tehran and Moscow enjoy common interests in economic, military, and security affairs as well as a friendly relationship pursue common policies on regional and international developments especially when it comes to taking stances in the face of the United States’ unilateral and interventionist strategies.

In late May, Iranian and Russian officials in a meeting in Tehran inked 3 important Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to further develop the two countries' energy and banking ties.
