Iran's special envoy for Afghani affairs, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, said this morning, Monday, that the United States  Of America (USA) continues its attempts to support takfiri groups in the region, including the terrorist organization "ISIS", after its defeat in Afghanistan.

During his visit to the Afghani capital, Kabul, at the head of a high-level delegation, the Iranian envoy told reporters, referring to America's defeat in Afghanistan: "Some countries support terrorists in Afghanistan to launch a proxy war in this country," expressing the need for cooperation to combat terrorism.

On the issue of recognizing the Taliban government, Kazemi-Qomi stressed Iran's respect for the will of the Afghan people to determine their fate, while expressing hope that the formation of a strong government in Afghanistan would be a gateway to achieving security and stability in the region.

The Iranian special envoy for Afghan affairs pointed out that Iran and Afghanistan face unjust Western sanctions. Thus, joint cooperation to secure the two countries' borders is a very important issue.

Kazemi Qomi pointed out that Iran's position will always remain supportive of the Afghan people in all security, economic and political fields.

The purpose of this visit is to "discuss political, economic and security issues in Afghanistan and the issue of refugees with officials of the current interim government."

According to the Iranian "Fars" news agency, it is worth noting that the Iranian special envoy for Afghan affairs, Hassan Kazemi Qomi, had earlier held the position of the Iranian ambassador to Iraq and Consul General in the Afghan province of Herat in the western part of the country.
