Iran’s Parliament has introduced a draft National Artificial Intelligence Bill designed to regulate, accelerate, and embed AI development as a national priority, according by Mehr News Agency, a TV BRICS partner.
The proposal underscores Iran’s recognition of AI’s transformative power and its determination to secure a strong position in shaping the global technological landscape.
The draft outlines the creation of a National AI Organization directly under the president’s office, equipped with independent funding, regulatory authority, and a mandate to advance infrastructure, research, and private sector engagement.
Lawmakers emphasized tailored support for AI start-ups and knowledge-based firms, ensuring distinct frameworks to prevent overlap. The bill also highlights AI’s role in revolutionizing science, communications, healthcare, and wider socio-economic fields.
Parliament is expected to debate the legislation before finalizing the 2026 national budget, marking a decisive step in embedding artificial intelligence at the core of Iran’s long-term development strategy.
