Iran’s top diplomat in Cairo has hailed Egypt’s pivotal role in regional de-escalation efforts, while reaffirming Tehran’s commitment to pursuing a diplomatic solution to its nuclear file.
Ambassador Mojtaba Ferdosipour, head of the Iranian Interests Section in Egypt, said that the recent visit of senior Iranian official Ali Larijani to Muscat reflects Iran’s seriousness in adhering to diplomacy. He described the trip as part of ongoing efforts to advance negotiations and maintain dialogue with the United States.
Speaking during a televised interview, Ferdosipour affirmed that Tehran has presented “clear responses and initiatives” regarding proposals under discussion with Washington. He underscored that Iran does not view a military solution as viable in relation to its nuclear program, but is instead seeking a balanced agreement based on mutual guarantees and reciprocal respect.
Addressing descriptions of upcoming negotiation rounds as “concession rounds,” the ambassador dismissed the characterization as inaccurate. He said the talks revolve around “mutual flexibility” while maintaining Iran’s legitimate nuclear rights as a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Ferdosipour noted that Iran’s nuclear facilities remain under continuous international monitoring and that, according to IAEA reports, there has been no military diversion of the nuclear program.
On regional mediation efforts, the Iranian envoy commended Egypt’s role, describing it as “pivotal and responsible” in supporting political and diplomatic solutions. He praised President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s commitment to reducing tensions and highlighted ongoing coordination between the Egyptian and Iranian foreign ministers.
He further acknowledged the mediation efforts of Oman, Qatar, and other regional actors, stressing that regional stability is a shared responsibility and that security in the Middle East is indivisible.
