Iran has exported information technology services to five continents, according to Sohrab Salimi, Head of the Knowledge-Based Products and Technical Engineering Services Office at the Trade Promotion Organisation of Iran. This is reported by Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

Salimi noted that the “non-material work environment” of IT has enabled companies to deliver services globally, with strong demand for programming and related skills in markets such as Oceania, the Americas, Africa, and neighbouring countries.

He highlighted the role of international agreements, such as with the Eurasian Economic Union, in expanding exports of technical engineering services. He noted that consulting projects bring in foreign currency without requiring the export of goods, while infrastructure projects, such as bridge construction, benefit directly from the Eurasia framework.

The official stressed the growing potential of Iran’s IT sector within the broader category of engineering services, noting that it differs from traditional fields such as road construction and civil engineering.
