The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Egypt in cooperation with the National Coordinating Committee for Combating and Preventing Illegal Migration and Trafficking in Persons (NCCPIM&TiP), held a capacity building training for 21 social workers from various governorates working at the shelters accommodating people with disabilities.
According to a statement released by IOM, this training was sponsored by the European Union within the scope of the Regional Development and Protection Programme (RDPP).
The training aimed to introduce the crime of trafficking in persons and its forms, next to the national protection system and the service provision to victims of trafficking. The legal framework of this criminal act as well as the national referral mechanism were highlighted within the training round.
