Italian giants Inter Milan have officially confirmed the departures of veteran goalkeeper Yann Sommer and defender Francesco Acerbi after their contracts expired on Monday, bringing an end to successful spells at San Siro.

The club paid tribute to both players in separate statements, thanking them for their commitment and contributions with the message, "Thank you for everything."

Sommer, 37, joined Inter in the summer of 2023 and established himself as the club's first-choice goalkeeper over the past three seasons.

The former Switzerland international made 139 appearances across all competitions, including 100 Serie A matches.

During his time with the Nerazzurri, Sommer won two Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia, one Supercoppa Italiana, and helped Inter reach the 2024-25 UEFA Champions League final.

Acerbi, 38, arrived at Inter in 2022 and spent four seasons with the club, making 148 appearances in all competitions, including 101 Serie A matches.

The experienced center-back enjoyed a trophy-laden spell, winning two Serie A titles, two Coppa Italia trophies, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles, while also helping Inter reach the UEFA Champions League finals in 2022-23 and 2024-25.

Inter once again expressed their gratitude to both players for their service, closing their farewell messages with the words, "Thank you for everything."

Meanwhile, the futures of Stefan de Vrij and Matteo Darmian remain unresolved, with both players also out of contract.

Reports suggest De Vrij is close to joining Panathinaikos, while Darmian is weighing offers to continue his playing career, although a role within Inter's coaching staff has also been discussed.
