Instagram co-founders Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger launched Artifact, a text-based version of TikTok which will deploy machine learning to understand users' interests.
Artifact is a personalized news feed app, whose name integrates articles, facts, and artificial intelligence (AI), according to The Verge.
The app is currently available for both Android and iOS devices.
"Throughout the years, what I saw was that every time we use machine learning to improve the consumer experience, things got really good really quickly," Systrom said in a statement.
On a separate note, Instagram Head Adam Mosseri announced that the social platform expanded its 'Notes' feature across Europe and Japan.
Mosseri highlighted that many users "complained about not having access yet to the feature."
He noted: "Sometimes when we launch a new feature, we launch it only to a small percentage of people, or just to a specific country."
"In the case of Notes, we launch something everywhere we can but have to hold back in a few countries if there's more work to do."
The official also indicated that the feature "has done really well" in Asia, North America, and Latin America and "specifically with teens."
